2024 UNC Water and Health Conference: Science, Policy, and Practice

Dear Colleague,

The Water Institute is accepting
Side Event Proposals for the 2024 UNC Water and Health Conference. Side Events offer an opportunity to delve into specific WASH topics, promoting collaboration between diverse stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and practitioners. These events offer a space to present the latest science and evidence for improving WASH policies and programs.

The Water Institute will be offering a "How to Design an Effective Water and Health Conference Side Event" Webinar on May 8th from 9 - 10 AM EDT. This live Zoom Webinar is designed to provide guidance regarding effective side event formats, essential aspects to include in a side event, use of Friday Center technology, and much more. This session will also address any questions from attendants. Further details can be located in the attached flyer. Please note that times are presented in Eastern Daylight Time.

Be sure to register for this webinar and submit any questions to our hosts below:

2023 PLOS Special Collection Upcoming Deadline

As was announced at the 2023 UNC Water and Health Conference, UNC is partnering with the not-for-profit Open Access publisher PLOS to organize a special collection of articles featuring the research presented at the conference.

We wanted to remind you that the deadline for submission to this special collection is June 30, 2024

To be considered for inclusion in this collection, submit your research article to PLOS Sustainability and Transformation (S&T) or PLOS Water and mention the collection in your cover letter. Research articles submitted for consideration will need to meet the journal’s publication requirements (PLOS S&T / PLOS Water) and will undergo PLOS’s standard editorial and peer review processes. They will publish in the journal if accepted and will be included in the conference collection upon its launch.

If you would like to contribute a Review article based on your 2023 conference presentation or have any other questions, we encourage you to get in touch with the editorial lead Hannah Harwood -
