On 5 June, the Road to Riyadh series will mark
World Environment Day with an interactive panel discussion on the
role of data in advancing sustainability. The event will spotlight
how timely, reliable environmental data can support greener policies,
promote eco-friendly practices, and strengthen awareness of today’s
most pressing environmental challenges.
The discussion will also highlight the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia’s commitment to global sustainability priorities and the SDGs,
as momentum builds towards the UN World Data Forum 2026 in Riyadh.

In the first UNWDF 2026 information session, held on 21
May 2026, partners and stakeholders came together for an early look
at preparations for Riyadh, including the Forum’s programme
structure, thematic priorities and emerging areas of focus. The
session also spotlighted Commit to Data as a key action platform for turning dialogue into
measurable commitments across the data ecosystem.
Speakers reflected on lessons from previous Forums,
shared updates on programme planning, and highlighted opportunities
for engagement in the lead-up to November 2026. Partner interventions
showcased how diverse actors are helping shape the Forum’s agenda and
advancing concrete action on data for sustainable development.
