A recap of the Entertainment + Culture Pavilion @ UNFCCC SB62
Entertainment + Culture pavilion hosts first-ever Culture x Climate Forum in Bonn at SB62, soon to be the COP30 Mutirão in Belém
Launched in the Blue Zone at COP28, the Entertainment + Culture Pavilion, where Culture meets Climate, celebrated its European premiere at SB62, the 62nd Meeting of Subsidiary Bodies from 16-25 June 2025 in Bonn, Germany. Bonn - already an international hub of history, art and culture and former West German political capital - became the place to be in June 2025 not only for SB62 delegates but also for locals, and international invited artists.
Over the course of 10 days in Bonn, the E+C Pavilion team together with its partners co-hosted over 20 events at SB62 including: side events, workshops, press conference, community town halls, poster presentations, negotiations, film festival, forest walk and more. The diverse line-up of cultural events at UNFCCC negotiations has been unprecedented. Yet on the road to the 30th Conference of Parties, a global ‘mutirão’ will be mobilised: growing from its roots in the Brazilian Indigenous population, it will turn COP30 into a community effort where delegates unite to achieve a common goal: the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement.
Some key highlights were:
● our workshop “Culture as a Framework to Drive Action for Climate Empowerment” at the ACE 2.0 Youth Hub on June 17th, teaching 30 young climate advocates how to use culture and art to develop innovative climate solutions,
● our press conference “Climate Generation: Setting the Stage for Culture-Based Climate Solutions at SB 62 on the Road to COP30” sitting side-by-side with representatives from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, the British non-profit Julie’s Bicycle, the UNFCCC Entertainment & Culture for Climate Action (ECCA) alliance,
● our new brand campaign #BonnBabyBonn by The Climate Propagandist and Doomates, to make Boon too cool to ignore in the annual calendar of international climate negotiations and reaffirm the place of SBs in cultural climate action.
In 10 workshops at the Culture x Climate Forum at the LVR-Landesmuseum on June 25th, the E+C team co-convened with its partners and the support of the City of Bonn and UNFCCC a full-day event to teach its 100+ attendees to use culture as political tool for climate action.
From decoding how the fossil fuel industry manipulates greenwashing and propagandates pollution, to learning from grassroot movements and communication campaigns’ impact on political change, the Culture x Climate Forum unpacked the diversity of modern solutions to modern problems, based on cultural heritage, indigenous wisdom and creative work.
Join us on the road to COP30! Fill out our Partnerships Expression of Interest form by August 17th (first deadline).
