This global gathering brings together world leaders, policymakers, innovators, and grassroots voices to assess progress and inspire bold, collective action for sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems.
UNFSS+4 kicks off on 27 July with Action Day, featuring side events and energized spaces for networking and bilateral meetings. Momentum continues with the official Stocktake Meeting on 28–29 July, where a mix of plenary sessions, ministerial roundtables, high-level panels, investment dialogues, and constituency-led discussions will drive the agenda forward.

 | Young leaders convene in Bangkok to drive global food systems reformOver 100 young changemakers from more than 50 countries gathered in Bangkok to drive global food systems transformation ahead of the 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) in July 2025. Organized by the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, FAO, and the World Food Forum Youth Initiative, the event showcased youth-led, community-based solutions to food insecurity and climate change. The conference built on insights from six global youth consultations and will culminate in a Youth Declaration calling for inclusive, participatory decision-making in food systems. Outcomes from the conference will inform UNFSS+4 and feed into broader efforts, including the World Food Forum flagship event and COP30. |

 | Dominican Republic advances food systems–climate alignment The Dominican Republic has initiated national dialogues to align its food systems transformation pathway with climate action, under the Hub’s Food Systems and Climate Action Convergence Initiative. The first dialogue, focused on the private sector, explored convergence opportunities in governance, policy, and implementation.

 | Food Systems Solutions Dialogue On 14 May 2025, the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub hosted a Food Systems Solutions Dialogue focused on applying a food systems transformation lens in fragile contexts. The Dialogue gathered National Convenors and global experts to explore strategies for addressing food insecurity amid conflict, climate shocks, and economic instability. Key themes included shifting food insecurity from a humanitarian issue to a development priority, the need for inclusive governance, and long-term planning that integrates food systems into national strategies. Panellists and Convenors emphasized innovations such as debt-for-food-security swaps, blended finance, and private sector engagement.
Participants called for greater political commitment, stronger institutional frameworks, and enhanced financing mechanisms. As global events like UNFSS+4 and FfD4 approach, the Dialogue underscored the urgency of aligning national priorities with international support to build resilient, equitable, and sustainable food systems in fragile settings.

Marginalized groups, including youth, Indigenous Peoples, and women, are vital to the success of food systems yet often remain underrepresented in decision-making processes. Their unique perspectives and experiences are essential for achieving equitable and sustainable food systems transformation. This webinar explores how the UNFSS, in 2021, established a wide Ecosystem of Support that works with marginalized groups to elevate their voices and contributions to change processes. The discussion will identify critical gaps and highlight innovative engagement strategies to break the barriers marginalized groups face in transforming food systems. Participants will hear from diverse speakers sharing their experiences and offering actionable solutions to create a more inclusive and just food systems landscape. |

 | Federal Government of Somalia and UN Launch Joint Initiative: Food Systems for Somalia Project The Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations have launched a two-year Joint Initiative – Food Systems for Somalia Project – aimed at transforming food systems governance and boosting resilience through climate-adaptive and nutrition-sensitive approaches. Backed by the SDG Fund, the programme will directly support 28,000 people and build the capacity of 10,000 local actors, while delivering livelihood support to 8,000 of the most vulnerable individuals. With 4.6 million Somalis projected to face crisis-level hunger by June 2025, the initiative marks a crucial step toward inclusive development and long-term food security.
