Your May Briefing   This edition covers preparations towards this year's World Environment Day, chemicals pollution talks and more. In depth     Countdown to World Environment Day (5 June)    Inspired by nature and showcasing real-world solutions to #BeatPlasticPollution, World Environment Day is a rallying moment for communities across the globe to implement and advocate for lasting solutions to fix this environmental challenge.     This year’s celebration comes two months before countries resume negotiations towards a global treaty to end plastic pollution.    What can you do?  Get answers to 10 questions on what plastic pollution is, why it’s such a problem, and what can be done about it.  Organize and register an event or activity focused on #BeatPlasticPollution or environmental action.  Share the campaign assets or create your own to spread the message.  Stay updated with the latest news and resources.  This is the Republic of Korea's second time to host global observation. It first hosted the Day in 1997 on the theme "For Life on Earth." Jeju Province, which has declared a vision to become free of plastic pollution by 2040, will be the centre of activities.    Countries tackle toxic chemical regulations as pollution crisis mounts   Delegates from more than 180 countries are now in Geneva discussing restricting several toxic chemicals, including a widely used pesticide and a common stain repellent.
