Our goal is to gather 1 million letters and signatures on petitions addressed to world leaders by Rio+20. A youth delegation will deliver them at Rio+20. You can also visit one of our petition sites at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/yes-to-rights-of-nature/. We are sponsored by the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature at http://therightsofnature.org/. I too support the Earth Charter and would love to see it expanded to include Rights of Nature more specifically. The Earth Charter is something that Maurice Strong tried to have agreed at 1992, 2002 perhaps it would be good to link in with the Earth Charter Movement - some great peopleFelix Doddshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15674368107771895857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-396571161962287942.post-22558141115765341822009-07-21T03:48:24.518-07:002009-07-21T03:48:24.518-07:00Hello,
Thank you for your work for Earth Summit 2...Hello,

Thank you for your work for Earth Summit 2012. I have noticed a wide interest in the possibility of a declaration for "planetary rights" to be signed at this summit. Ecuador has put "rights of nature" into its new constitution, a remarkable achievement which opens up for a whole new perspective on nature as a legal "person" and gives a much stronger protection for ecological systems than what is available today (se www.celdf.org, the organization that built the legal foundation for this). Personally I think "rights of nature" is a more powerful and communicative statement than "planetary rights". In any case, I agree with the people that hold this to be as historical as human rights once were. I would appreciate to hear your perspective on this issue, and on the possibilities of creating a universal declaration with this theme at the Earth Summit 2012.
